Goodies with Grands, Some Surprise Visitors, & A Pirate Invasion

Last week, we had Goodies with Grandparents. It was a special day for all. I still remember when my grandparents came to eat with me in elementary school. Precious memories. Thank you to those who were able to attend. I hope you enjoyed your visit!

Last week, Payton celebrated his birthday. He is part of something called Team Impact in which he is involved with the Wofford Terriers. He stands on the sidelines with them at home games, so he has formed a bond with a lot of the players. They wanted to surprise him with a birthday visit. They (4 big football players) came after lunch and Payton was very surprised. They sang to him and then read 2 books aloud to the class. The book titles were Wink: The Ninja Who Wanted to Nap and Because I Stubbed My Toe. They read with a lot of expression and kept the class entertained. :) They gave Payton and the class a Wofford poster, and then they were on their way. Thank you so much to the Terriers for making it a special day for Payton and the entire class!

Finally, Dress Like A Pirate Day was Monday. A special thank you to Caylee for sharing her pack of eye patches with the students that didn't have pirate attire! Another pirate day is coming up during the Walk to School Week.

October is always an extremely busy month. There are a lot of important events coming up: special events for Walk to School Week, Boosterthon fundraiser/Fun Run, book fair, conferences, etc. so please keep updated by reading the weekly newsletter and checking your child's Take Home folder daily. Have a great week ahead!

Hatcher Gardens field trip

We had a fantastic learning experience at Hatcher Gardens on Monday! Our guide took us on a tour of the beautiful gardens. Although they were disappointed we didn't see snakes, we did see various types of trees, flowering plants, seed pods, a stream and waterfall, and even a banana tree. She told them the history of the gardens and how to take care of plants and wildlife. We also discussed how the weather affects the plants and wildlife in our area. Overall, it was a gorgeous day to be outside. The gardens are free and beautiful, so I encourage you to go for a visit with your family soon!

College Colors & Next Week Reminders

I hope everyone had a nice, relaxing Labor Day weekend! I know I enjoyed every minute of it with my family.
Last Friday we had College Colors Day. I LOVED seeing all of the garnet and black in my room! Go Cocks! There were some Tiger fans mixed in, and even a few representing Duke, Wofford, and Tennessee! It was great seeing this class of 2026 showing their school pride.
LOL :) Silly guys

2 sweet Clemson Tigers

GoooooOOOOOOO Cocks!

I can't wait to see where they end up in their future. I know Lindsey's older sister, who I taught in 3rd grade, is a freshman at Clemson this year! I'm so proud of her, just like I'm proud of each of my former and current students. They have so many blessings and good things ahead of them!

Thank you so much to those that have already sent in nutritious nibbles on Fridays. We've gotten graham crackers, granola bars, and today Evy brought in some yogurt, cheese sticks, and grapes. The students loved it all and wanted more! I love that they are excited about healthier "Go" foods.

Don't forget, Monday is our field trip to Hatcher Gardens. We can't wait to learn about weather and contributions of the Cherokee to our area. I know this will be a fabulous learning experience! We'll be leaving at 8:15 and will return by 1:00. Don't forget your lunch from home if you signed up for one! Be on the lookout for field trip pictures next week!
Also, don't forget Wednesday is our annual Goodies with Grandparents Day. I can't wait to meet these special people in your child's life. I have so many precious memories with my grandparents that I cherish and hold dear to my heart. I know this will be a special time for everyone.
Have a great weekend and we'll see you soon!
